It is a non-volatile storage device installed internally in a computer that uses mechanical platters and moving read/write heads to access data.

How HDD works?

The numbers of disk platters consist of the most basic hard drives which are positioned around a spindle inside a sealed chamber which also includes read and write heads & motors.

The Platters which hold the data are spun by the motor up to 15,000 rotations per minute. While the platters spin, a second motor controls the position of the read-and-write head. Read-write heads record information magnetically and read information from the tracks on each platter.

The solid-state drive is a new generation of storage devices used in computers. The solid-State drive uses significantly faster flash-based memory which replaces traditional mechanical hard disk.

As we know that older hard disk storage technologies run slower and today's generation doesn't want to wait so our SSDs technology has reduced accessed time as compares to HDDs.

As HDDs, SSDs serve the same purpose, they store files and data for long-term use. The only difference is the "flash memory". SSDs use the type of memory which is like RAM but whenever the computer shuts down, RAM clears its data but data remains on SSD even when its power runs out.

How SSDs work?

The Solid-State Drives uses a simple memory chip called NAND flash memory which has no moving parts. Files are saved on a grid of NAND flash cells instead of a magnetic platter.

The Solid-State Drive uses a grid of electrical cells that quickly receive and send the data. These grids are separated into sections which are called "pages" where data is stored. Pages are then interlinked to form "blocks".

SSDs have no moving parts so they are called "Solid-State".

Solid State Hybrid Drive is a combination of Solid-State Drive and Hard Disk Drive. It is the same as a Hard disk which has a very small amount of solid-state storage, approximately around 8 GB.

It provides an absolute solution for performance and storage within a budget. By combining both technologies, the benefits of the technologies provide you storage capacities like Hard Disk Drive and working performance like Solid-State Drive

On the Solid-State Drive portion of the drive, commonly used and fast access data is stored and on the Hard Disk Drive portion larger and less used bulk of data is stored.

How SSHD Works?

The technology of SSHD works by using a small amount of memory of NAND flash solid-state to store the most often used data. The portion of using Solid-State Drive for accessing files far quicker than Hard disk drive. The rest of the SSHD is made up of HDD storage.

Displayed as a single device for most Operating systems, SSHD has a controller chip which helps to decide which data is to be stored on SSD and which on HDD.
